King of the Zoo

This is a Broad-head Cuttlefish. It is fairly large at about 3’ long. Unfortunately, right after this picture was taken, it was attached and killed by an eel. We witnessed the aftermath which was basically a large cloud of black ink floating through the water. We mentioned this to the boat grew, and they found it lying dead on the surface. They took it home for dinner.

Not much to say except I would rather be there right now.

I may have told this story already, but during my trip to the Bahamas last year, I had an interesting marine encounter. I had my macro lens on my camera taking pictures of something small in the sand when I felt a shadow fall across me. I turned over and looked up to see a Loggerhead turtle, bigger than me, sitting right on top of me. My first thought, of course, was to get a picture, but it was so close that my macro lens was only able to frame the eyes. This picture doesn’t really tell you the size, but it was BIG.

This is another photograph I keep as wallpaper on my desktop. It was taken in 2006 with the original Canon Digital Rebel in an Ikelite housing. I’m sure most of my dive buddies from Lonestar Scuba will recognize the exact dive site. :)

There is some debate at my parents’ house regarding exactly which species of bird this is. If anyone knows for sure, please reply in the comments.

After 10 years, it is time to say goodbye to my Jeep TJ Rubicon. We had a lot of fun, but the time has come to move on. I have a new 2019 Jeep JL Unlimited Rubicon in my garage now. I hope to be wheelin it offroad sometime in the near future.

This sailboat was moored off of the island of Weno inside of Truk Lagoon in the state of Chuuk which is part of the Federated States of Micronesia. I took it during a trip to dive the wrecks of Truk Lagoon in January, 2010. This is one of my favorite photographs and is one of the photographs I keep in my rotating wallpaper on my desktop.
