Travel Log - Revillagigedo Islands
Manta Ray
I just returned from my second trip to what is colloquially known as the Socorro Islands; although, Socorro is actually only one of three islands we visited besides San Benedicto and Roca Pardita. This archipelago is located in the pacific off the coast of Mexico and south of Cabo San Lucas. The water was unseasonably cold for this time of year, but we endured and were fortunate to experience multiple encounters with dolphins, sharks and manta rays.

As promised, I have uploaded pictures from my recent vacation. To recap, I just got back from Raja Ampat, Indonesia. Myself and 14 other friends from LoneStar Scuba spent the last two weeks aboard the M/V Pindito SCUBA liveaboard boat diving this beautiful archipelago.
The panorama image above was shot using a DJI Mavic Mini 2 drone.

Diving in Raja Ampat, Indonesia
I just got back from Raja Ampat, Indonesia. Myself and 14 other friends from LoneStar Scuba spent the last two weeks aboard the M/V Pindito SCUBA liveaboard boat diving this beautiful archipelago. My friend Ann took this picture of me hovering above a giant clam using my camera. I have many more photos to share which I will get to in due time. More to come…
Photograph of the Week
Taken in the near-infrared wavelengths between approximately 740nm-1000nm.
This is my first foray into infrared photography. This image was taken with a modified DSL camera. All light in this photograph is coming from near-infrared wavelengths of light (740nm-1000nm) that is then converted to visible light (380nm-700nm) by the camera. Notice that all the leaves are white? That is because leaves reflect all wavelengths of infrared light.

I setup a tripod and put my camera on time-lapse to get a shot this close.
Happy New Year
We spent the day playing with my father’s new drone he got for Christmas. We took multiple shots around his property.
I used the drone’s preprogrammed “circle” path to get this shot. It took multiple attempts because of the drone height (250’) and the radius of the circle. I targeted the tree in the center. Look for the hawk flying below the drone towards the end of the video.
I tried using one of the drone’s preprogrammed paths for this shot, but they didn’t seem to want to work properly: or at least like I wanted. So, I flew this shot manually.
